VMware NSX Attains New Certification

June 19, 2017

VMware Inc. today announced that its NSX virtualization platform has achieved Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 2+ certification.

This certification, which exists under the Common Criteria Evaluation and Certification Scheme, validates that VMware’s NSX meets government security standards and requirements. This is an ISO-15408 standard that is recognized by 26 member nations.

“Governments globally are working to optimize their IT spend and increasingly focused on delivering more value using limited resources,” said Milin

Desai, vice president of product management of the networking and security business unit at VMware. “With VMware's software-defined approach that includes VMware NSX, we can deliver greater efficiency and security for existing systems while enabling a modern infrastructure that is both cloud and new-app ready.”

VMware NSX addresses application continuity, automation, and security. It abstracts network and security services from physical network infrastructure. And it also allows for micro-segmentation, which embeds security into the hypervisor layer and can prevent the lateral spread of threats in the data center.

In other news about VMware this month, the company introduced major updates to its VMware vRealize cloud management platform. That includes new features supporting automated, proactive workload placement; native vSAN management and monitoring; access to data on capacity utilization and its relationship to cost efficiencies; and cross-cloud security and networking management.

Also this month, the company was named a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Mobility Management. This marks the seventh consecutive year VMware has achieved this designation.

“The EMM landscape has changed considerably over the past seven years and we have maintained a rapid pace of innovation to help customers prepare for the next generation of digital transformation,” said Sumit Dhawan, senior vice president and general manager for end user computing at VMware. “Using our industry-leading AirWatch EMM as the foundation for VMware Workspace ONE – the platform for delivering a secure digital workspace -- customers can turn to proven solutions from VMware at any point of their digital transformation journey, whether they need EMM, unified endpoint management or a digital workspace strategy.”
