Hosting Company GloboTech Delivers VMware's SDDC

February 17, 2017

GloboTech Communications has added VMware’s software-defined data center to its portfolio. This solution enables organizers to self provision virtual machines in their private environments and have those resources available on demand.

“SDDC redefines the architecture and operational model of the data center, enabling IT to complete the transition to hybrid cloud and maximize its benefits,” VMware explains in an August 2016 white paper titled VMware Cloud Foundation: The Unified Platform for Private and Public Cloud.

“In an SDDC,” the company explains, “compute, storage, and networking services are decoupled from underlying hardware infrastructure and abstracted into logical pools of resources that can be more flexibly provisioned and managed.”

As indicated above, the VMware Cloud Foundation is the name of the company’s SDDC solution. That brings together VMware’s NSX, vSAN, and vSphere. And it supports qualified vSAN ready nodes from Dell, HP, and QCT. VMware Cloud Foundation was a winner of the CRN cloud platform product of the year award in 2016.

center stack with an enhanced operational efficiency across private and public clouds,” VMware says. “As a result, Cloud Foundation dramatically shortens the path to a complete hybrid cloud, increasing admin productivity.”

Canada-based GloboTech sells hosting solutions in more than 150 countries. Those solutions include data migration, distributed denial of service attack prevention, high-availability and clustered offerings, managed backup, managed firewall, and server management.

The company runs thousands of servers. And it says it recently enhanced its infrastructure to eliminate power and network failure points.

Active Intelligence Ltd., EM3 Services, Piggybank Technology, Poppen Works, Post-PhD, and Ratrod Studio Inc. are among GloboTech’s customers.

Ratrod Studio is a Canadian entertainment software company specializing in mobile content and game development and publishing. The company has a user base of more than 40 million players. GloboTech provides the company with an inter-data center infrastructure that employs a high-availability cluster.

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
