SDN Market Poised to Cross $88 Billion by 2024

March 02, 2018

According to a new research report from Global Market Insights, the Software Defined Networking (SDN) Market Share is estimated to cross $88 billion by 2024. SDN utilizes multiple types of network technology to create an agile and flexible network as a virtualized server and storage infrastructure of a modern data center.

Benefits of SDN include:

  • high bandwidth
  • abilities to handle the dynamic nature of advanced application
  • reduction in operational and management complexity
  • enhanced security in the cloud
  • network manageability
  • dynamism in the data center

The reason for the expected market growth in the SDN arena is the rising adoption of cloud and telecom services as well as IT convergence. This puts a heavy demand on the network to be both scalable and flexible. These are the two biggest reasons why the Asia Pacific SDN market is poised to be the quickest expanding market.

Chinese telecom honchos such as China Unicom, China Mobile, and China Telecom are set to invest $180 billion by 2023 on 5G infrastructure alone. By 2026, the 5G infrastructure market in the United States alone is estimated to garner $33.72 billion. This only demonstrates what an influencer the Asia Pacific market is.

Several vendors discussed in the SDN study include AT&T, IBM, HP, Cisco, Big Switch Network, Intel, Juniper, Huawei, Arista Network, NEC Corporation, Extreme Networks, Pluribus, Pica8 and Plexxi.

Day 2, Cisco Live!

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
