Members of the ONF announced plans this week to run Edge Cloud demonstrations at the upcoming Mobile World Congress. Putting CORD POD technology to work, future-forward performance will be on display. "Ciena is serving as prime integrator for this bold demonstration featuring over a dozen substantial innovations. We helped to pull together and verify the various technology elements into this comprehensive proof-of-concept that illustrates the art of the possible on democratization of wireless and wireline access networks with open, programmable platforms for multi-access edge networking," said Steve Alexander, CTO of Ciena. The cloud is here to stay, and recently released Cisco Global Cloud Index hammers this point home. Expecting cloud data center traffic to hit the 19.5 zettabyte mark annually by 2021, making up 95 percent of the data center load by the same year. Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
