Technavio Names Top Transforming Network Infrastructure Vendors

December 30, 2016

The global data center fabric market is being driven by the increased virtualization of data center network infrastructure around the world. Data center and network operators want to be able to improve the agility and increase the efficiency of the market while lowering costs as more data centers are being built and as transforming network infrastructures are being deployed, such as 5G by the end of the decade. The new report published by Technavio on the global data center fabric market from 2017-2021 names the top five vendors, as well as 12 additional vendors that the firm believes will have an impact in the market during the four year forecast.

The global data center fabric market is populated by a very competitive vendor landscape which provides switches and routers supported by the management software to configure and manage the fabric-based network infrastructure. And because today's next generation modern data centers are cloud enabled, they need solutions that are extremely reliable and scalable because their cloud enabled. Additionally, the data centers require highly available network infrastructure backed by fabric switches and routers which requires solutions from transforming network infrastructure vendors.

Technavio said the high level of competition among vendors in the market is in great part responsible for pushing the price to the most competitive level without sacrificing quality of the product. And as more mega centers are being built in developing countries, these vendors have to compete with each other to get these lucrative contracts.

"Reduction in infrastructure cost and complexity, growing adoption of cloud based systems, and increased use of big data analytics are the other important drivers of this market. Technavio analysts forecast these factors to drive the global data center fabrics market to be valued at USD 12.7 billion by 2021, growing at a CAGR of 8.49 percent,” said Abhishek Sharma, one of the lead analysts at Technavio for data center research.

The five top vendors in the report all provide comprehensive data center and transforming network infrastructure technologies on different levels, but with a global presence. Technavio named Brocade Communications Systems, Cisco Systems, Dell, HPE and Juniper Networks.

Day 2, Cisco Live!

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
