T5 Data Centers and Pivot3 Form Partnership

March 10, 2016

Traditional data centers use centralized storage, isolated workloads and discrete computing resources, which makes it very hard for them to adapt to the IT requirements of today's businesses. Virtualization, cloud computing and real-time services are just some of the many developments that demand a Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI). T5 Data Centers (T5), a national data center owner and operator, has formed a partnership with Pivot3 so it can include HCI as part of its offering.

A hyper converged infrastructure is a must in today's highly dynamic IT ecosystem because it addresses the flexibility, scalability and multi-tenancy requirements organizations demand. At any given moment a company may have to increase its capacity across the board to handle the influx of tens of thousands or even millions of users.

"Pivot3 can easily scale-out cloud environments for CPU, RAM and disk from a Terabyte to a Petabyte while only consuming less than 10 percent of system resources - no other HCI vendor can provide this," said Jason Peoples, vice president of channel sales at Pivot3.

The HCI was conceived by companies that required Internet scale, such as Google and Amazon to address the scalability they need at all times. Pivot3, a global leader in providing dynamic HCI solution and predictable flash storage, will offer similar scalability for T5. When the partnership between the two companies is finalized, it will create the first Pivot3 Center of Excellence within T5’s LEED certified, 100,500 square foot T5 Atlanta data center.

The Atlanta facility will be a purpose-built, server-ready and cloud-enabled multi-tenant data center capable of offering concurrently maintainable infrastructure and robust connectivity solutions. It will give organizations with evolving IT strategies the infrastructure support they need to meet virtually any demand.

"The demand for cloud services continues to grow exponentially. By adding Pivot3’s solution suite to our customer offering, we will be able to provide better scalability and performance, as well as reduced cost and complexity for mission critical business applications powered by our always on computing environments," said Craig McKesson, executive vice president, Enterprise Solutions at T5 Data Centers.

The biggest driver for the HCI is the adoption of cloud services by individual consumers and small and large organizations alike. The move by T5 to implement the Pivot3 technology will allow it to address application driven businesses, as well as service providers that are offering real-time content for consumers so they can watch their favorite shows anytime or play games with friends on the other side of the world.

With the Pivot3 platform in place, T5 will have the capability to prioritize data and application performance based on business value. This will give its customers more control in their IT spend without sacrificing performance or availability.

Day 2, Cisco Live!

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
