Pure Storage Improves FlashStack CI to Give Customers All Flash Future

June 23, 2015

The data being generated in today’s digital environment might seem random sets of information, but that is not the case. No matter how unstructured the data looks, it can yield valuable insight if it is properly analyzed. The large volumes of information stored in data centers around the world have to be readily available so they can be used to make informed decisions and gain new insights. Therefore, the storage has to become faster for performance critical applications, which is leading many operators to deploy flash-based solid state storage. Pure Storage, an independent solid-state array vendor, has improved its FlashStack Converged Infrastructure (CI) to help its customers with an accelerated path to an all flash solution.

Until very recently, the thought of having an all flash storage was out of the question for almost everyone, the cost was just too prohibitive to make any financial sense. However, the rapid decline of NAND flash memory has made it possible for many operators to start offering it as an option for select clientele. But as the price continues to come down for solid state drives, it will be more affordable, giving everyone access to the technology.

The FlashStack CI platform is designed to speed the time to deployment, lower overall IT cost and reduce risks with a flexible all-flash converged infrastructure solution combining the latest compute, network, storage hardware and virtualization software into a single integrated architecture.

In addition to the improvements to the platform, the company announced the addition of the FlashStack CI Accreditation partner tier under the P3 Partner Program. The Pure Storage FlashArray product family now includes Microsoft SQL Server and Citrix XenDesktop, adding to previously published configurations for Cisco UCS Blade Servers, Cisco Nexus switches, VMware vSphere 5 and VMware Horizon 6.

Some of the features FlashStack CI integration provides include:

  • Predictable performance at a lower total cost,
  • Simplified deployments for faster reports and queries to be able to make better decisions based on the data,
  • Deliver virtual applications and desktops to allow enterprises to securely mobilize business at the speed of flash memory,
  • Eliminate performance bottlenecks, increases infrastructure reliability and provide dramatic savings in power, cooling and rack space.
  • Reliable performance without costly downtime or outages, and
  • Disaster recovery capabilities and native storage-based data replication.

"We've attracted new global partners through the proven-success of our solution. By introducing Microsoft SQL Server and Citrix XenDesktop configurations, FlashStack CI equips our customers and partners with the performance, simplicity, high-availability and reliability they need to increase revenue opportunities and lead their perspective markets," said Michael Sotnick, Vice President of Global Channels and Alliances at Pure Storage.

Whether it is network or storage, companies want to be able to get the information they need as soon as possible, and speed still continues to be the name of the game in IT. With the implementation of SDN, NFV, super broadband speeds and flash storage, organizations can now access the data they need faster than any other time.

Day 3 of Cisco Live is history! For Fiber Mountain, we continued to enjoy visits from decision makers and influencers who were eager to share their data center and structured cabling challenges.

Day 2, Cisco Live!

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
