France's CELESTE Employs Coriant 7100

January 11, 2018

France ISP CELESTE is employing the Coriant 7100 Packet Optical Transport Platform to support enterprise customers.

“As enterprises evolve their wide area networking strategies in response to public and private cloud-based application demands, service providers require infrastructure solutions that can provide superior resiliency and scale with the flexibility needed to easily adapt to new requirements,” noted Ronald Van der Kraan, managing director of Europe at Coriant.

The Coriant technology does all of the above. The Coriant 7100 is a family of packet optical metro and regional transport solutions for business services, data center, fixed line, and interconnect applications.

The 7100 gear automates the optical layer to simplify network expansion and service activation, resulting in reduced capital and operational expenditures for the network operator. It allows for more efficient traffic management. And it supports scale with the ability to employ multi-degree ROADM and up to 704 100G wavelengths.

At CELESTE, the Coriant 7100 technology will enable optical interconnect services at guaranteed symmetrical bandwidths of 80 gigabits per second. And the solution CELESTE has chosen can be easily upgraded to support 160 gigabit per second capability.

CELESTE owns and operates a fiber optic network covering more than 2,500 kilometers. That connects major metropolitan areas throughout the country and includes access to international peering points.

TMC’s Cloud Computing magazine recently interviewed Coriant’s new CCO Homayoun Razavi.  He noted that Coriant customer base includes nine of the top 10 global tier 1 communications service providers, as well as leading web-scale internet operators, cable/MSO operators, and large enterprises.

“In the past two years, under the leadership of CEO Shaygan Kheradpir, Coriant has built a best-in-class solutions portfolio that is truly optimized for the tectonic shift occurring in network infrastructure with the emergence of 5G, IoT, and hyperscale cloud transformation,” said Razavi.

Day 2, Cisco Live!

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
