NTT Communications Taps Coriant for DCI

June 16, 2017

NTT Communications Corp. is using Coriant technology to interconnect several of its data centers in Hong Kong, the companies revealed this week.

The specific Coriant solution in play in this case is the Groove G30 Network Disaggregation Platform. Designed for low power consumption and to address hyperscale density, this 1RU, stackable solution supports 3.2 terabits of capacity. And it has programmable dense wavelength division multiplexing line interfaces at 100G to 400G for DCI applications as well as long-haul, metropolitan, and regional transport.

NTT Comm has deployed the Coriant Groove G30 Network Disaggregation Platform in an alien wavelength application over the carrier’s existing dense wavelength division multiplexing infrastructure.

Alien wavelength technology allows existing DWDM networks to support more capacity. Coriant recently demonstrated its alien wavelength capability in partnership with Telefónica Germany.

“The challenge of managing ever-increasing demand for network capacity without incurring escalating operating expenses requires innovative

approaches to high-speed optical transmission,” said Michael Haeberle, director of transport and fixed access at Telefónica Germany. “We were very pleased with the performance of the Groove muxponder solution throughout the multiple test cases performed as part of this trial.”

The Groove G30 Network Disaggregation Platform is just one piece of Coriant’s product portfolio. That portfolio includes coherent optics, universal switching and transport, SDN automation, and silicon photonics.

“In the past two years, under the leadership of CEO Shaygan Kheradpir, Coriant has built a best-in-class solutions portfolio that is truly optimized for the tectonic shift occurring in network infrastructure with the emergence of 5G, IoT, and hyperscale cloud transformation,” said Homayoun Razavi, a 30-year veteran of the tech industry who recently joined Coriant as chief customer officer.

Nine of the top 10 global tier 1 communications service providers, as well as leading Web-scale Internet operators, cable/MSO operators, and large enterprises are among Coriant’s customers.

Day 4, Cisco Live! - The Wrap

Day 4 was the final day of our first ever Cisco Live! We had a great show, with many great conversations and new connections with existing and potential end users, resellers, partners and job hunters.

Day 3, Cisco Live!

Day 3 of Cisco Live is history! For Fiber Mountain, we continued to enjoy visits from decision makers and influencers who were eager to share their data center and structured cabling challenges.

Day 2, Cisco Live!

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.

Day 1, Cisco Live!

Fiber Mountain is exhibiting at Cisco Live! In Las Vegas for the first time ever! Our first day was hugely successful from just about any perspective - from quantity and quality of booth visitors to successful meetings with customers.
