Binary Tree Makes Migration Much Easier with SMART Migrator

January 21, 2016

Binary Tree has announced a new version of its SMART Windows Server Migrator, a solution that ensures migration and business continuity in modern computing environments. Many enterprise environments that are undergoing migrations have multiple elements of security permissions, account attributes, and a geologically diverse base of users and systems that require consideration, planning, and validation. There are elements of virtual servers, virtual hosts, cloud environments and other complicated environments that make migrations challenging. Migration tools and scripts from the past are cumbersome, slow and ineffective when migrating large, modern environments. Binary tree provides a rapid and automated migration solution which includes testing, reporting, share migration, status reporting, automated consolidation, and a centralized console.

Nobody said that it had to be difficult to migrate Windows servers, and there are many ways to execute this task either on premise or to and from the cloud. Migrating system is a reality as the information technology industry is filled with constantly retiring operating systems and platforms and thus a need to continually migrate. There are two major schools of thought when it comes to migrating servers. One involves what amounts to the rip and replace technique. That is where you swap older servers for new versions, often complete with new hardware, virtual, networking, and operating systems. This is a painful way to go about migrating systems and very few companies pursue this type of approach because these are typically production-level systems in question. Migrations should minimize downtime and outages through a systematic approach and proper tools that support it, such as Binary Tree. This kind of migration tool comes from the school of thought which is commonly seen in most data center consolidation operations.

In any server consolidation initiative, migration technologies should provide simple services to move files, systems, databases and resources throughout datacenters while allowing for continuous usage and minimal downtime. Migration strategies should streamline the process of migrating workloads between on-premises data centers, as well as public, private, and hybrid clouds. Leading solutions also are designed to ease migration between existing physical and virtual servers through an automated and testable process. At the heart of any migration project there should be a focus on maintaining production status, availability and the integrity of the data. Binary Tree’s migration solution provides a complete checklist of enterprise migration needs.

Day 2, Cisco Live!

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
