Zhone Deploys Enterprise Fiber for SouthEast Bank

February 17, 2015

Zhone Technologies has announced a FiberLAN deployment with SouthEast Bank, located in Farragut, Tenn.

The deployment was carried out by Qypsys, an infrastructure integrator, with help from cabling provider TE Connectivity and consultant Taylor Telecom Solutions. The overall solution will enable SouthEast Bank's customers to access its services over Zhone’s FiberLAN technology for enterprise Internet access.

In an era where technology has emerged as a solution to improve customer service and operational efficiency, banks are upgrading their networks to support more digital customer service channels. According to Gartner, the banking and financial services industry is close to the top of the IT spend list.

"SouthEast Bank wanted to build a network infrastructure that would sustain business growth over the next 20 years while reducing physical space, electricity consumption and heat dissipation from the network," said Jeff Gibbs, CIO at SouthEast Bank. "Zhone's GPON allowed us to reduce space to one data room with no additional impact on cooling costs, while TE Connectivity's shielded six-strand fiber ensured our building is adaptable with no need for additional network runs."

"Zhone, TE Connectivity and Qypsys worked with SouthEast Bank to identify the best solutions to improve their network capabilities for banking customers and prepare it for future adaptations," said Monique Apter, vice president, FiberLAN at Zhone Technologies. "Zhone is dedicated to creating innovative products, such as FiberLAN, that meet the unique needs of customers in a wide range of industries, including banking, and help to improve services and operations for its customers."

The specific Zhone products leveraged in the deployment were its small form factor OLT and its 2804P in-wall ONTs, which SouthEast Bank liked because of the low profile design and functionality. TE Connectivity's OLS solution was used for the project, alongside many of its other passive components.

Day 2, Cisco Live!

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
