Do You DRaaS?

November 20, 2015

The cloud; what was once a “cloudy” proposition today is permeating its benefits into the nooks and crannies of the enterprise. Whether it is the contact center or the data center, the cloud is transforming workflows, business processes and overall efficiency while saving a firm on hardware and storage cost. With the proliferation of cloud, comes new innovation and new Saas offerings.

One company providing Recovery-as-a-Service is Axcient, and the firm’s Vice President of Products spoke with TMC during the recent Editor’s Day Silicon Valley about the cloud, our software based future and, of course, Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS). Keeping business functions running at all times in today’s digital world is mission critical, and a recovery solution ensures core information systems are running and available around the clock.

The firm recently gained notoriety from Gartner and IDC as a leader in its space, and is not taking the easy road to prosperity as the innovation is continuous. Case in point, it recently released its newest DRaaS solution, which reduces migration pains, increases flexibility and offers faster replication and Recovery.

The solution is the only on the market that can be deployed direct to cloud, via virtual appliance or physical appliance. The platform provides a single solution to manage Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) as well as Recovery Time Objectives (RTO). Aside from RPOs being three times faster and failovers are instant, it provides for easy migration between virtual and physical environments, drag and drop capability for file recovery, VMware Aware and Axcient’s Direct to Cloud service allows a firm to customize jobs by permitting file and folder exclusions.

Scallan explained that via innovations like “cloud continuity”, “We can replicate your IT environment through the cloud and through a simple user experience gain recovery.” After all, what good is a security solution that is unwieldy and inefficient?

In business since 2007, Axcient is bringing enterprise class recovery to the SMB market and beyond. A pioneer in business resiliency, it is ready to ensure that anything that could affect productivity doesn’t—whether it’s a cryptolocker, flood or simply deleting a file by accident. Much like the post office motto of “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds,” Axcient overcomes your disaster and delivers.

Day 2, Cisco Live!

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
