Hitachi Data Systems Federal Signs Definitive Agreement to Accept Transfer and Control of Brocade Cleared Assets and Support Services

Hitachi Data Systems Federal, Inc., (HDS Federal) today announced it has signed a definitive agreement with Brocade Communication Systems, Inc. (Brocade (News - Alert)) to accept the transfer and control of certain Brocade U.S. Federal cleared assets, comprised mainly of service maintenance contracts. As part of the transaction, HDS Federal plans to expand its cleared employee capability with Brocade's Federal cleared support professionals. The close of the transaction is expected to occur coincident with the close of Broadcom's (News - Alert) pending acquisition of Brocade. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"This agreement with Brocade reinforces our commitment to the public sector and expands our portfolio of capabilities to further assist our government customers in their digital transformation journeys," said David Turner, HDS Federal president and CEO. "This combination strengthens our customer offerings with a wide range of easy to deploy, cost-effective classified federal networking capabilities for managing their mission critical initiatives."

"Hitachi (News - Alert) Data System Federal has an excellent reputation for serving the Federal marketplace and significant experience with Brocade's SAN and IP Networking portfolios," said Brocade CEO, Lloyd Carney. "This agreement helps ensure that our valued federal customers will continue to receive world-class support and services for Brocade's networking solutions."
