Zayo Announces SD-WAN Addition to Portfolio

January 05, 2018

The 5G era means much for the next generation in communications solutions, and in this time of digital transformation, the network is in the midst of a software-defined, cloud-based makeover. Recently, stealing the spotlight is SD-WAN, as companies seek to cloud-ify operations, it is an obvious selection for cost-savings, scalability and quality of service sought after.

This week, Zayo unveiled its SD-WAN solution, aimed at delivering efficient and effective network management, resilience and flexibility in a streamlined package. Managing modern network operations and the requisite cloud applications doesn’t have to be a herculean task.

In specific, the Zayo SD-WAN solution is an integrated extension of Zayo’s fiber-based IP/MPLS, and provides location integration and service provisioning ; taking Internet, LTE, MPLS and creating multi-path and primary configurations. The solution promises optimal network performance via dynamic traffic steering; ready to support today’s SaaSy working world.

The SD-WAN addition rounds out the Zayo portfolio nicely, as it already offers a vast array of managed and unmanaged Ethernet and IP-based solutions. The next generation in the enterprise is to be powered by software-defined network in a cloudy world, and it appears Zayo is in a strong position to enable it.

“The WAN is one of the most critical components of any enterprise network infrastructure and can be complex and challenging to manage,” said Mike Strople, president of Zayo Enterprise Networks. “Zayo's SD-WAN makes WAN management easier and more efficient, providing better performance, flexibility and reliability.”

From 5G and the next generation in infrastructure, to the cloud and its virtual siblings, it is an interesting time to be following the innovation. It’s also a good time to see how future-proof one’s network is, curious about SD-WAN?

Day 2, Cisco Live!

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
