Transforming Network Infrastructure Week in Review: Coriant, HyTrust, Radisys and More

May 07, 2016

Bob Dylan once sang, “The Times They Are a-Changin’”, and those words couldn’t be more applicable to the data center and the network transformation taking place at the speed of innovation. And with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was: Time for the Week in Review!

Already a known player in software-defined networking (SDN)-enabled end-to-end packet optical networking solutions, Coriant delved a little deeper into the arena this week with the announcement of its 7090-2 CEM Packet Transport System. The release is aimed at providing improved flexibility; Steve Anderson will show you how HERE.

We discussed change in the opening of this piece, and one major enforcer of the aforementioned change is the innovation taking place in virtualization and the cloud. As adoption of cloud and software-based solutions increases, so too do the reasons for others to do the same. Fears fade away, as development ensures that early concerns no longer need to be. HyTrust released research results this week that even to the greatest cloud cynic could prove to convince them this is no passing fad and is only going to improve over time. The complete analysis is HERE.

A growing component of today’s data center is network function virtualization (NFV). And this week INTERNET TELEPHONY bestowed Radisys with its NFV Pioneer Award for its DCEngine solution. In short, the solution takes a service provider’s central offices and transforms them into an SDN-enabled virtualized data center. Everything you need to know is HERE.

This week, EMC hosted the first EMC world event where it announced its “Leaders of the Modern Data Center” awards. The data center is in a phase of significant disruption, and it is always good to know where and how the leaders of the pack are looking to innovative next. The full article is HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for your fill of all things network transformation. See you next week!

Day 2, Cisco Live! 2017

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
