Transforming Network Infrastructure Week in Review: Juniper, Zayo, LinkedIn & More

April 09, 2016

Not to sound overly dramatic, but every day evidence of network transformation is in the news. The burgeoning areas of NFV, SDN and the cloud are revolutionizing the way we deploy, monitor and manage the network of today. And, with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was: Time for the Week in Review!

Steve Anderson led off the week reporting Zayo Group Holdings has purchased Clearview International. The all cash deal expands Zayo’s data center operations immensely. And, particularly in the Dallas-Ft Worth area where it is based, there is a growing demand for data center and fiber needs. Anderson’s complete report is HERE.

This week Juniper finalized its acquisition of BTI systems, clearing the way for the development of efficient optical transport networks for its clients. BTI is already quite familiar with Juniper software and hardware, which allows for more forward thinking. In addition, the deal offers Juniper the ability to address metro packet optical transport as well as data center interconnect markets. Casey Houser’s full breakdown is HERE.

LinkedIn is quickly becoming far more than a professional networking tool, as this week it announced the arrival of its Platform as a Service, or LPS). Last week the company hopped into hyperscale for its data centers and this week offers a way to minimize hardware footprint while improving performance at the same time. The details are HERE.

Those in the data center industry are well aware of the impact software defined networking, network function virtualization and the cloud are having in transforming operations. With growing adoption numbers comes an increased volume of success stories and tangible results that software truly is eating the world. The entire report is HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for your front row seat the network infrastructure transformation. See you next week!
