VMware Adds Automation Functionality to Gigamon's GigaSECURE Platform

October 14, 2015

Gigamon Inc. specializes in solutions that provide traffic visibility, especially with the GigaSECURE Security Delivery Platform, which is comprised of an innovative mix of hardware and software components that offer maximum visibility and the opportunity to strengthen security measures. The platform is optimized for software-defined data centers based on software company VMware’s NSX service insertion framework, and a recent expansion of the collaboration between these two companies has added automation capabilities to GigaSECURE. As a result, security administrators will now be able to automate the provisioning and configuration processes of their virtual network traffic monitoring, collection, manipulation and delivery.

As more and more organizations adopt software-defined networking practices for their data centers, it is becoming increasingly important to have full operational visibility into security deployments in order to ensure maximum effectiveness of the related network, application and security monitoring tools. Furthermore, unhindered and secure access to all data across the virtual and physical enterprise from a centralized location allows these organizations to optimize efficiency.

“As customers ramp up their SDDC deployments, they need to automate the deployment and orchestration of advanced operationalization tools,” said Ananda Rajagopal, Vice President of Product Management at Gigamon. “Our vision is focused on leveraging VMware NSX service automation capabilities to help customers scale their deployments seamlessly.”

NSX network virtualization is an essential tool for doing away with overbearing physical infrastructure and enabling provision and assignment of policies and security services to applications within a much shorter time frame. The new automation functionality makes it even easier to set this process in motion by providing administrators with complete real-time visibility across the entire network beforehand.

“As customers operationalize the software-defined data center, they expect to be able to fully automate all aspects of service activation,” said Rod Stuhlmuller, Senior Director of the Product Marketing, Networking and Security Business Unit at VMware. “We are pleased to work with Gigamon to enable our customers to automate rich operational visibility within the data center.”

Day 2, Cisco Live! 2017

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
