Transforming Network Infrastructure Week in Review: HPE, Big Switch, InterDigital & More

August 19, 2017

Digital transformation has taken hold, driving a new era of innovation in the data center and beyond. Starting with the transformation of network infrastructure and ending with the user experience, change is in the air. And with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was in network transformation news: Time for the Week in Review!

This week, InterDigital announced the successful testing of mobile edge computing 5G network architecture. The mobile technology research and development company calls this an industry first, with the trial based on new IP networking technology assumed to comprise part of the 5G network architecture. Dirk Trossen, Senior Principal Engineer, InterDigital explains, “This trial showcases the solutions, developed under the leadership of InterDigital, that can deliver those performance improvements under realistic conditions and with real users fulfilling the highest criteria of trials in the 5G world.” Complete coverage is HERE.

Also in the news, Decision Lab and Plexxi unveiled a partnership where the two companies are putting heads together to provide real-time analytics for the Plexxi network fabric. Once inserted into an analytics dashboard, users gain invaluable insight into their data center networks. “Today's distributed, scale-out applications and hyperconverged infrastructures are placing new challenges on the network in ensuring the performance and integrity of the east/west workload traffic that is the heartbeat of server-to-server communication and synchronization,” Plexxi noted. TMC’s Paula Bernier has everything you need to know HERE.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Big Switch Networks deepened ties this week, as Big Switch’s newest channel sales partner is none other than HPE. “With the addition of Big Switch to our portfolio, customers gain access to easy-to-use, easy-to-deploy solutions for network management, visibility and security,” said Philippe Michelet, Senior Director of Product Line Management for Data Center Networking at HPE. “This cooperation shows our commitment to provide our customers with innovative open networking solutions that address their network agility and scalability challenges.” All the details are HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for all things transforming network infrastructure! See you next week!

Day 3 of Cisco Live is history! For Fiber Mountain, we continued to enjoy visits from decision makers and influencers who were eager to share their data center and structured cabling challenges.

Day 2, Cisco Live!

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.

Day 1, Cisco Live!

Fiber Mountain is exhibiting at Cisco Live! In Las Vegas for the first time ever! Our first day was hugely successful from just about any perspective - from quantity and quality of booth visitors to successful meetings with customers.
