SevOne Unveils SDN Monitoring Solution

June 28, 2017

SevOne this week at Cisco Live! unveiled an SDN monitoring solution aimed at providing users with better visibility into their Cisco ACI environments.

Cisco ACI stands for Application Centric Infrastructure. It is a software-defined architecture that leverages policy to automate IT tasks and to increase operational efficiency and security.

Building blocks of Cisco ACI include the Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller, the Cisco Nexus 7000 Series family of switches, and the Cisco Nexus 9000 Series family of switches.

As for the SevOne SDN Monitoring Solution, it enables companies with networks based on Cisco ACI to visualize physical and virtual relationships within their networks and to automatically provide service assurance.

This solution from SevOne features seven interactive dashboards.

The automated topography ones provide users with insight into physical and virtual components in their networks that help them better understand the health and performance of their SDN-based infrastructure.

The tenant-driven logical visibility dashboards allow teams to visualize dynamic networks from a tenant and application first perspective.

SevOne’s SDN Monitoring Solution also delivers dashboards that display historical and real-time views of heath and key performance indicators related to both tenant-based operations and to the overall system.

There are also system-wide fault reporting dashboards. These provide visualization by domain and type, and across the entire system.

Dashboards are also available that provide engineering and operations teams with historical and real-time operational details about application network profiles and tenants, and end point groups.

There are automated baselining dashboards that send notifications when abnormal behavior of the Cisco ACI system is identified. This works by recognizing when behavior deviates from historical trends.

And there are node and endpoint topology dashboards. These display physical and logical relationships within Cisco ACI implementations.

The need for SDN solutions is expected to rise in the coming years, as the global SDN market is estimated to reach $70.41 billion by 2024, according to Grand View Research Inc.

“SDN acts as a bridge between the applications and routers and switches to relay information and data between them,” Grand View Research notes. “As they provide a virtualized view of the network and storage, the SDN solutions help in deploying applications and services at a fast pace. The demand for [software-defined] solutions is anticipated to be on the rise as there is a growing necessity for the increasing operability and bandwidth of the carrier networks for service providers as well as large enterprises. The increasing data traffic due to increased mobile devices, social media cloud computing, and even Internet of Things is expected to propel the data traffic in the coming years, which will create a steep demand for enhanced networks.”

Day 3 of Cisco Live is history! For Fiber Mountain, we continued to enjoy visits from decision makers and influencers who were eager to share their data center and structured cabling challenges.

Day 2, Cisco Live! 2017

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
