Transforming Network Infrastructure Week in Review: ADTRAN, Centec, MEF16 and More

November 12, 2016

This is a time of great change, from electing a new President here in the United States, to the transformation taking place in network innovation and disruption – things are happening fast and furious. And with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was in the transformation of network infrastructure: Time for the Week in Review!

MEF16 served host for innovation abound this week in Baltimore, and a company showcasing its SD-Access gateways at the event was ADTRAN. The solution displayed takes control to the customer edge and support service orchestration across the entire network. TMC’s Paula Bernier has everything you need to know HERE.

The CIO is an integral figure in any organization, but especially today with digital transformation taking place at a fever pitch. Considering the cloud, on premises or off, SDN and more is no small task, and beyond selecting a direction then comes the laundry list of vendors, which need vetting. Michael Guta explores the matter more HERE.

This week, Centec and EmbedWay announced a successful collaboration to help advance SDN capability. The result of the pairing is the EXSwitch 6200/6300 series 10GE SDN white box solution, which both companies claim is the industry’s first high-density 10G/40GE open networking platform with native 100GE uplinks. All the details are HERE.

The need for speed is nothing new. Since the dawn of the automobile to the birth of the Internet, the demand for bigger, stronger, faster is no spring chicken. In today’s network, the movement is smaller, faster, flexible and high-performing. According to an NERSC representative, the current demand for speed exceeds the capability of modern computing, so it has partnered with CRAY to develop faster ways to push data faster into supercomputers. Casey Houser’s complete coverage is HERE.

Day 2, Cisco Live! 2017

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
