VMware Outfits New SDDC in Singapore

September 20, 2016

PT Telkom Group subsidiary Telin Singapore has built a software-defined data center that leverages VMware Inc. technology. The companies say it is Asia Pacific’s first SDDC.

It is also Telin Singapore’s third and largest data center in the area. This data center employs VMware’s NSX, Virtual SAN, vRealize Suite, and vSphere solutions.

hardware into the hypervisor. Virtual SAN simplifies storage provisioning and management for vSphere and provides native integration with the VMware stack. The VMware vRealize Suite is a management solution for heterogeneous data centers and hybrid clouds. And vSphere is a server virtualization platform for building cloud infrastructure.

The Telin-3 data center was built using VMware Validated Designs. They are comprehensive and tested blueprints that help enable VMware customers build and operate private clouds more efficiently and effectively.

Telin Singapore also plans to employ the VMware vCloud Air Network. It’s a secure public cloud for VMware workloads that allows for data center extension, data center replacement, and disaster recovery. That will enable Telin Singapore to extend services from this new data center, Telin-3, throughout Asia, the companies explained.

Telin-3 recently received the Uptime Institute’s Tier-IV design certification, meaning it complies with strict data security, risk, and safety guidelines required by financial institutions, governments, and other industries. Telin Singapore and VMware also note that Telin-3 supports Singapore’s Smart Nation vision.

Smart Nation work includes the creation of a laboratory where companies and researchers can build and test their solutions, work on cybersecurity and data privacy, investment in research and development, the launch of an accelerator to support startup companies, and more. Smart Nation activities include a smart home testbed in Yuhua estate; the creation of the Committee on Autonomous Road Transport for Singapore; and The Centre for Healthcare Assistive and Robotics Technology, which facilitates collaboration with and within Changi General Hospital.

Day 2, Cisco Live! 2017

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth.
