Infinera Xceed Poised to Put Service Providers in Excellent Position

September 01, 2016

Software-defined networking is soaring in the data center space. Service providers are utilizing this burgeoning area of development to automate networking of virtualized devices and functions. Infinera, a provider of Intelligent Transport Networks, announced its Xceed Software Suite, a portfolio of integrated, modular and open software components for SDN automation of Infinera programmable multi-layer transport networks.

The Xceed Multi-layer SDN platform was purpose built, providing service providers with scalability across Infinera’s Intelligent Transport Network portfolio, which includes data center interconnect, metro and haul applications. In addition, Xceed Applications provide the necessary tools to protect and augment service provider revenue by offering a highly efficient and high performing solution to ensure the network is performing at a highly efficient level.

“The introduction of the Xceed Software Suite marks an important milestone in Infinera's ability to help our customers realize the promise of an

infinite pool of intelligent bandwidth,” said David Welch, President and Co-Founder, Infinera. “Now with Xceed, our customers have the automation, multi-layer intelligence and programmability to rapidly deliver new, differentiated SDN applications with an open approach. Service providers can now activate and control pre- deployed terabit scale capacity quickly and easily with minimal operational expense.”

The two Xceed Applications available at the time of release are the Xceed Dynamic Bandwidth, which provides on-demand provisioning optical transport networks, allowing for improved service provisioning time as well as more efficient use of resources. And, Xceed Instant Virtual Networks gives service providers the tools to define virtual network topologies on a shared physical network infrastructure.

Art Nichols, Windstream's Vice President of Network Architecture and Technology explained, “As a strategic vendor, Infinera partners with us to develop pragmatic solutions to meet our customers' needs. We are actively testing and plan to deploy the Xceed Multi-layer SDN Platform with Dynamic Bandwidth to further our efforts in providing an exceptional customer experience.”

SDN is saving time, money and resources for the enterprise and service providers alike. There’s an old saying, “what’s popular isn’t always right, and what’s right isn’t always popular.” While for years this was applied to peer pressure and questionable behavior, in the technology space SDN is both right and popular.

Day 2, Cisco Live! 2017

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
