Transforming Network Infrastructure Week in Review: Gigamon, PLexxi, Red Hat & More

July 16, 2016

This week was full steam ahead in network transformation news. As regular visitors to the transforming network infrastructure community know, we cover the bleeding edge of innovation. And, with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was: Time for the Week in Review!

The week started with news from Aligned and Plexxi, as the two have partnered to provide Data Centers as a Utility. As TMC’s Frank Griffin highlights, Aligned Data Centers is leveraging underused resources to create pods capable of providing on-demand services. Find Griffin’s complete report HERE.

The data center is a complex entity. Firm seek solutions to provide visibility into operations to offer an easy way to troubleshoot, problem solve or maintain the network. This week, Gigamon unveiled its new GigaVUE-FM Fabric Manager to make this task a bit easier. TMC’s Steve Anderson has everything you need to know HERE.

Much like a watch, the data center is a group of components that must function in concert with each other to provide the desired effect. For the watch owner it’s the correct time, for the data center manager its efficient and reliable performance. Glue networks updated its Gluware Network Orchestration Software, which is poised to help organize operations and improve overall operations. TMC’s Casey Houser’s complete analysis is HERE.

Telcos have had it rough in recent years, losing a fair amount of revenue to OTT service providers. This week, telcos received a shot in the arm from a newly minted partnership. Lenovo and Red Hat have teamed up to provide telcos NFV infrastructure. TMC’s Michael Guta provides a breakdown of the announcement HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for all things network transformation. See you next week!
