Transforming Network Infrastructure Week in Review: Cisco, IDT, Cavium & More

June 25, 2016

Transformation is taking place across the technology landscape, with the data center being a notable example. Leveraging optical networking, SDN, NFV, the cloud and more, the data center is a bastion of innovation. And with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was in network transformation: Time for the Week in Review!

IDT and Cavium led off the week with the announcement of a partnership aimed at providing a reference design for hyperscale data center. The product of the partnership is a solution said to be energy-efficient and developed for the Open Compute Project. TMC’s Steve Anderson has everything you need to know HERE.

Cisco recently unveiled the Cisco Tetration Analytics platform after two years of development. The platform promises to provide a new level of insight and visibility into network operations in the data center in real-time. Yogesh Kaushik, Cisco's senior director of product management noted in a recent interview, “It's a completely open platform, designed to work with anything the customer is using.” Find the complete story HERE.

The week, Hedvig put its new applications on display. It is offering a hyperscale solution, the Quanta CloudScale Reference Architecture for the data center, which integrates a slew of Docker open source tools – Docker Swarm, Docker Engine as well as the Docker Universal Control Plane, to name a few. All the details on Hedvig’s solutions are HERE.

While America plays host to the top supercomputer in the world, China stakes claim to the next two slots on the list. And Mellanox Technologies is providing interconnect solutions for the Sunway TaihuLigh data center, a system with 93 Petaflop/s . The Mellanox Solutions have powered the facility to record scalability and performance. TMC’s Michael Guta has all the details HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for your fill of all things network transformation! See you next week!

Day 2, Cisco Live! 2017

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
