Transforming Network Infrastructure Week in Review: ADVA, VMware, ITEXPO & More

June 18, 2016

The transformation of network infrastructure is happening all around us; and as software continues to eat the legacy world it is an exciting time to be in tech. And, with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was: Time for the Week in Review!

Forecasts and projections are aplenty and MarketsandMarkets unveiled its most recent predictions for the software-defined data center market by solution. Explosive growth is no surprise, as 2016 sports a market value of just under $26 million, but by 2021 the SDDC market could reach over $83 million. Casey Houser breaks the report down for you HERE.

Also in the news this week, ADVA Optical Networking joined the Directly Modulated Lasers on Silicon (DIMENSION) project. The aim of the project is to develop a common platform of “single-chip electro-optical integration. DIMENSION has brought together partners from industry as well as research to make this focus a reality. Steve Anderson has everything you need to know HERE.

With adoption rates of software defined solutions growing, and innovation at a fever pitch, VMware announced the acquisition of Arkin Net to round out its portfolio. Now, VMware is able to offer customers solutions gained from the Arkin SDDC security and operations business – helping in terms of planning platforms, new automation tools and trouble shooting. VMware's senior vice president and general manager Ajay Singh referred to Arkin as “a great fit for VMware and its customers,” and one that would “accelerate our growth businesses including cloud management and network virtualization.” The complete article is HERE.

The tech show landscape is an interesting one, and deciding the best show to attend for your business need can be a daunting choice. Much like Baskin Robbins and its 31 flavors, the countless number of tech shows available for attendance can certainly make the decision difficult, but after seeing the results of our recent community poll respondent s made it look easy. When given the choice of vendor, independent or analyst run tech shows the results resoundingly pointed to independent shows like ITEXPO. Find the complete recap HERE.

Remember to check back early and often for all things network transformation! See you next week!

Day 2, Cisco Live! 2017

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth.
