VCE Announces New VxRack System to Support Converged Cloud and Mobile Infrastructure

May 05, 2015

In support of convergence for cloud migration along with mobile applications, VCE has announced a new family of hyper-converged RackScale Systems. The new VCE VxRack System lets service providers easily scale from dozens to several thousand servers while enjoying tens of petabytes of storage capacity. The system supports movement to the cloud as well as distributed Tier 2 applications while offering high levels of performance and value.

The new family is built on EMC ScaleIO software-defined storage and also includes built-in networking capabilities. Features include the ability to decouple scaling of compute and storage along with a choice of software stacks from the EMC Federation and partners. Options include choice of VMware vSphere, KVM or bare metal hypervisor with the ability to integrate the VMware VRealize management and orchestration suite using Cisco’s Nexus switching.

The system may also be tailored for VMware environments and includes an integrated VMware stack built on EVO:RACK technology and VMware Virtual SAN. The offerings may be easily connected to the VCE Vscale Architecture, supported by VCE Vision software. This provides a unified data center architecture with support for multiple locations.

"The VxRack Systems are purpose built to enable enterprises and Service Providers to support existing Tier 2 and emerging born in the cloud applications with massive scale capability and cost optimization," said Praveen Akkiraju, CEO of VCE.

"Since the VxRack is completely modular, it really allows us to enter at a lower price point, or a smaller footprint, and easily scale up over time to build our solutions with improved OPEX for our clients,” added Shelley Perry, chief product officer of cloud solutions at Dimension Data. “Additionally, since the Dimension Data Cloud is application driven, the VCE VxRack System and the Vscale Architecture enable our clients to move important workloads and core systems improving time to value for business transformation."

The new VxRack Systems are designed to complement VCE’s Vblock and VxBlock converged infrastructure platforms, which handle Tier 1 workloads like enterprise applications and ERP systems. By integrating its extended portfolio of offerings, VCE is honing in on customers who want an integrated and easily managed infrastructure as they build out their businesses to the cloud and beyond.

Day 2, Cisco Live! 2017

Tuesday was Day 2 of Cisco Live for Fiber Mountain and we continued to experience high levels of traffic, with many high value decision makers and influencers visiting our booth. One very interesting difference from most conferences I attend is that there are no titles on anyone's show badges. This allows open conversations without people being pretentious. I think this is a very good idea.
