Server Sitters Announces Partnership with 'Reliable Penguin' to Assist Clients with Large Scale Data Center Migrations

Oklahoma City, OK, Dec 17, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Server Sitters, leaders in North American outsourced web-hosting support, announced late last week they would be joining forces with 'Reliable Penguin' to offer clients in the United States and Canada the ability to execute seamless large scale data migrations.

It's not uncommon for hosting providers to make provisioning mistakes. Reliable Penguin discovers these problems before the new server goes live, avoiding unnecessary downtime.

The highly trained staff at Server Sitters will begin the process by conducting a thorough survey of the old server in order to determine software and configuration requirements. At this point, one of the experienced engineers will review the old server and build a list of requirements for the new server, while documenting the software version, configuration, add-on modules and other critical details.

Server Sitters spokesman Adam Gallant explained, "The high level of service now being offered to our clients clearly demonstrates our commitment to guaranteeing reliable data migrations, and offering more options in the process. We are very excited to be working with Reliable Penguin in 2013 and beyond." When the customer is ready to begin the process at the designated cut-over time, the professionals at Server Sitters and Reliable Penguin make all the necessary DNS changes to reroute traffic from the new server to the old server. Since the time-to-live on the DNS records has already been reduced, the cut-over will typically take about 5 minutes to go into effect. This is the only "downtime" involved in the final step of completing the formal migration process.

Reliable Penguin, Inc. is a Linux-centric consulting firm specializing in server migrations, systems administration, and programming since 2003. In addition to consulting, Reliable Penguin offers a range of services including network monitoring, SSL certificates and backups. Through its various strategic partnerships around the world, Reliable Penguin is able to offer credit card gateways, anti-virus software and Plesk web hosting control panels.

Reliable Penguin has over 8 years of experience with thousands of satisfied customers and successful projects under their belt, and pleased to be working with Server Sitters as another proud partner. Each member of both teams has extensive experience working with Linux systems. Reliable Penguin is headquartered in Mooresville, North Carolina and serving customers around the world.

Server Sitters is an outsourced support provider specializing in hosting support for web hosting companies that require Help-desk Support, Live Chat Support and/or Telephone Support Services.

The History of Fiber in Data Centers, Part II

As I stated at the close of "The History of Data Centers, Part I," Fiber Mountain™ believes data centers must evolve from hub and spoke architecture—in which traffic is aggregated and delivered to a central hub—to a design that includes many direct connections.

Three Things Your Boss Wants—No, Needs—To Know About Glass Core

Fiber Mountain™ CEO and Founder— plus my longtime friend—M.H. Raza does a terrific job on this blog of explaining how our Glass Core™ architecture transforms the way data centers build their network infrastructure.

The History of Fiber in Data Centers, Part I: Past and Present

Fiber Mountain, as our company name suggests, believes fiber cabling must play a central role in helping data centers scale affordably as bandwidth needs continue to grow. Before I go further down the path to the future, however, I want to back up and provide a high-level history of fiber in the data center.

Four Reasons to Make the Leap to SDN in Your Data Center

I'm always fascinated by what causes a business trend to emerge, grow and sometimes expand to actually redefining the industry as a whole. Having spent years in the technology field, I've found the networking sector particularly exciting in this regard because true innovation can and does transform entire segments of our industry. Revolutionary processes and technologies make past deployments and best practices look laughable in light of recent innovations.

Reflections From the Fiber Mountain Launch

Over the past weeks and months, the Fiber Mountain team has worked hard to prepare for our company launch at this year's Interop New York. In this post, I want to share our thoughts from the days leading up to the October 1st unveiling and about the event itself at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan.
