PointRight Selects FusionStorm to Re-Architect Its Data Center Infrastructure

(GlobeNewswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 16, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- FusionStorm a national provider of IT consulting, technology solutions, cloud offerings and managed services announced today that it has been selected by PointRight, Inc. as PointRight's systems integration partner. PointRight has tapped FusionStorm for assistance with developing a technology strategy and re-architecting its data center infrastructure.

FusionStorm, with support from longtime partners EMC and Cisco, developed a technology roadmap that will enable PointRight to consolidate and streamline its infrastructure and more effectively support its rapidly growing business demands. The solution features EMC VNX unified storage and the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) server platform. FusionStorm is providing engineering and implementation services, as well as assessment and consulting expertise.

"FusionStorm came in and evaluated our server and storage infrastructure, and showed us how we can we can improve utilization and make our data center faster and more efficient," said Chris Stakutis, VP of Engineering and CTO, PointRight. "They've been a great partner in helping us understand how to enhance performance and scalability and better position ourselves for the future." PointRight, an industry-leading provider of analytics and decision-support services to the healthcare industry, requires a robust technology infrastructure to support its 24x7 production-critical business. PointRight's Software-as-a-Service solution analyzes the largest privately held dataset related to long-term care patients to help clinicians, facility managers and insurers measure, benchmark and improve financial and operational performance.

"We process 20,000 to 50,000 medical records every day of the week and our customers count on that data coming in and getting analysis and response immediately. Our new data center environment architected with FusionStorm is critical to our success," Stakutis said.

The FusionStorm solution provides PointRight with twice the storage performance and two to three times the server performance in a consolidated, tightly integrated environment. FusionStorm also supported PointRight's budgetary requirements by arranging financing through EMC Global Financing and Cisco Capital. Going forward, FusionStorm will be helping PointRight improve its backup strategy using EMC's replication options, and leveraging EMC VSPEX Proven Infrastructure and VMware to virtualize PointRight's environment.

"FusionStorm has been fantastic to work with throughout this project. And stay tuned we'll probably do two or three projects with them next year," said Stakutis. "They're going to be a long-term partner for us." Reflections from an Interop Veteran and Alum

When I returned to the Fiber Mountain™ offices in Connecticut after exhibiting at Interop Las Vegas 2015, I couldn’t help but think about how much the event has evolved through the years. I have been attending this seminal IT and networking conference since its inception in 1986 when it was called the TCP/IP Vendor Workshop, focused on interoperability of various TCP/IP program stacks.

What Fiber Mountain's Interop Recognition Means for Our Industry

When Fiber Mountain™ began its journey with a launch at Interop New York last fall, we certainly believed that we had a solution that would make a significant impact in the data center space.

What On-Board Optics Means for Density and Flexibility

This past week I read an article in Lightwave Magazine and another in Network World about the formation of the Consortium for On-board Optics (COBO), a group that seeks to create specifications and increase the faceplate density of data center switches and adapters.

Scaling Hyperscale in an Age of Exponential Growth and Virtualization

Over the past several years server, network, storage and application virtualization has revolutionized the way hyperscale data centers are built by consolidating workloads. The trend has simplified network architecture significantly and resulted in huge cost savings as well.
