Smart Homes 2012 brings together Global Thought Leaders

BOSTON --(Business Wire)--

Strategy Analytics' (News - Alert) Smart Home Strategies (SHS) advisory service director Bill Ablondi to lead a panel discussion "Finding the Next Killer Application: Lessons to be Learnt from Customer Engagement" at this years' Smart Homes 2012 conference. Bill will be joined by: Michael Brown, Delta; Joris Knigge, Enexis; Greg Memo, Green Wave Reality; Stuart Ravens, Ovum (News - Alert) and Marco Romero Rodriguez, Telefonica to address topics including what is driving customer demand and how it differs across market and geographical segments.

There may be a "killer app" to be discovered by an innovative company, but lack of awareness for the benefits of smart home applications in general is a major inhibitor of market development to be discussed by the panel. "One of the questions we plan to address is which industry will lead in stimulating market demand" said Ablondi. "There are a number of possibilities including the energy industry, broadband service providers, CE and home improvement retailers, residential security providers and smartphone vendors … Apple, Google and Samsung (News - Alert)."

Strategy Analytics predicts that total global revenues will reach $72 billion by 2017 as nearly 160 illion households worldwide adopt some type of smart system to monitor, control or manage activities in their homes or provide the peace of mind and lifestyle enhancements these systems offer. "We believe this to be a realistic 5-year forecast," explained Ablondi. "With the right mix of marketing, applications and business models, revenues could easily double this level by 2022."

Synergy (News - Alert), the event's organizer, has invited a broad group of smart home industry players to participate in Smart Homes 2012 which will be co-located with Metering, Billing/CRM Europe 2012 and Transmission & Distribution/Smart Grids Europe 2012, which means that this year's event will include:

I have been attending this seminal IT and networking conference since its inception in 1986 when it was called the TCP/IP Vendor Workshop, focused on interoperability of various TCP/IP program stacks.

What Fiber Mountain's Interop Recognition Means for Our Industry

When Fiber Mountain™ began its journey with a launch at Interop New York last fall, we certainly believed that we had a solution that would make a significant impact in the data center space.

What On-Board Optics Means for Density and Flexibility

This past week I read an article in Lightwave Magazine and another in Network World about the formation of the Consortium for On-board Optics (COBO), a group that seeks to create specifications and increase the faceplate density of data center switches and adapters.

Scaling Hyperscale in an Age of Exponential Growth and Virtualization
